Under the direction of Dacia Dressen-Hammouda et Christine Blanchard (LRL, UCA)

Abstract

The EDUAC project ('Evaluating a cooperative educational system coupled with a conversational assistant to support the development of academic writing at master's level') aims to study the impact of the use of a conversational assistant powered by artificial intelligence on the development of academic writing in English and French. The effects of combining an existing educational system (Graduate School Writing Center at UCA) with the controlled use of the conversational assistant will be evaluated in terms of four skills essential to the development of academic writing at master's level. A longitudinal mixed methodology will be deployed with construction of a multimodal data corpus, usability study, surveys, semi-structured interviews and out-loud protocol. The project comes at a pivotal moment in the digital revolution in higher education, and the results will support future pedagogical transformations.
