This post-doctorate is part of a project led by Mickaël Jury entitled "ACHIEVE: Academic Success for Students with Special Educational Needs - Interaction Effect of Students' Gender" (duration12 months / 2024-2025)
Abstract
This project explores the interaction effects of gender and special educational needs (SEN) status on teachers' perceptions of students' competence and academic evaluations. While inclusive education aims to ensure equal opportunities for all students, the accommodations necessary for students with SEN are sometimes perceived as unfair advantages. This perception can lead to a devaluation of their achievements, particularly for girls.
The project includes several experiments conducted with pre-service and in-service teachers in France. These studies aim to examine whether students with SEN, depending on their gender and the type of accommodations received, experience backlash effects in evaluations of their competence and academic performance. This interdisciplinary project, bridging social psychology and educational sciences, seeks to better understand judgment dynamics in an inclusive education context.
